Only low-floor trolleybuses are running now in Riga to make trips more comfortable for passengers
"Rīgas satiksme" informs that since July only low-floor trolleybuses are running in Riga, having fully replaced the outdated high-floor vehicles. New trolleybuses are much more comfortable for passengers to get on and off, particularly for disabled persons in wheelchairs, as well as for young mothers, elderly people and little children.
Today the trolleybus fleet of Riga consists of 252 low-floor vehicles carrying passengers on 19 routes.
“Rīgas satiksme” reminds that the trolleybus purchasing procedure was completed in 2013. It provided for buying 125 new low-floor Škoda 27Tr Solaris trolleybuses to gradually renovate the outdated fleet of trolleybuses and offer services which are safer, more comfortable and accessible to various groups of passengers.
